School

La Roca School Located in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in Tijuana; since 1989 the goal of the La Roca Community School has been to provide an education to children in need.

There is power in education; power to overcome adversity and power to achieve dreams.

Fully funded by donations, private schools such as ours are giving children an opportunity to learn, explore, play, be challenged and make lasting friendships. We provide them with all the necessary components to create a well-rounded and balanced education. Math, science, history, Spanish, and social studies classes as well as daily recreation time are all among these components. We also offer extracurricular activities including computer skills, English classes, and the La Roca Color Guard Squadron. Community events are held often for the families of the school children, ending each year with the annual graduation ceremony.

We pride ourselves in having the best teachers and in providing the best education around. Here are just a few of our many successes from the past few years:

2007:
The La Roca Color Guard Squadron won 3rd place in the Tijuana color guard competition.

2006:
The La Roca Color Guard Squadron won 1st place in the Tijuana color guard competition.

2005:
Three of our students won the top four qualifying spots in the Tijuana Sixth Grade Scholastic Olympics and then moved onto the Baja California statewide competition. Jose Guadalupe Hernández, one of the La Roca students, won the statewide competition! He was rewarded with a week long visit to the Capitol in Mexico City where he met with President Vicente Fox!

Sinai Villanueva, sixth grade teacher and Director of the La Roca School, was awarded a special recognition by the State Secretary of Education for having been the teacher that instructed all of the top three performing students in the Scholastic Olympics.

Second grade teacher, Sara Zamora, was awarded Teacher of the Year of Baja California.

The La Roca Color Guard Squadron won 2nd place in the Tijuana color guard competition.

2004:
The La Roca Color Guard Squadron won 1st place in the Tijuana color guard competition.

As you can see, all children have the potential to achieve greatness; they just need to be given the opportunity. Since 1989 over a thousand children have come through our school doors – many of whom are now in college pursuing such fields as architecture, fashion design and engineering. This has all been a collaborative effort through the support of hard working teachers, dedicated students, supportive families, and generous financial supporters that all believe in the same thing: Education is the Key to a Successful Future.

Thank you for believing!
