On Tuesday (Nov. 3) we had a special treat at Haven. We packed the back room at the Roustic Couch which made for a very cozy and intimate setting to welcome our special guest for the night. Missionary John joined us through the invitation of Lydia, our generous benefactor, to bless us with his testimonies and words of encouragement.

Missionary John shared some of his experiences in China with us and spoke based on the theme of generational faith. He spoke of China’s “Back to Jerusalem” movement and how the early members of the movement laid the foundation for future generations to fulfil their goals knowing full well that they themselves probably wouldn’t see the fruits of their labor. When the older generation passed the baton to the younger, they covered their younger counterparts with prayer and encouragement.

Missionary John wrapped up the night by asking the first generation attendees to cover the Haven members and their respective ministries in prayer. Just as the older generations in China supported their younger generations, this was a call for the first and second generation Korean-American Christians to work together for His Kingdom. Language and cultural barriers were broken as the first generation cried out to the Lord on our behalf and as the second generation received their blessings in a beautiful display of collaboration.
